PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a labelled tackifier, more particularly, a dye-labelled tackifier; a method for manufacturing such dye-labelled tackifier; and a composition containing a dye-labelled tackifier. SOLUTION: The dye-labelled tackifier increases the solubility/compatibility of the dye and gives an improved means for introducing the dye to products such as inks, adhesives and coatings. When the dye is a radiation absorbing dye, the dye-labelled tackifier can contribute as a thermal transducer and, for example, can be used in melting or softening a thermoplastic material such as a hot melt composition.
