PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for gripping an immersion tube, which is used in a facility for refining molten steel and causes few failures. SOLUTION: The gripping device 6 comprises: a gripping bracket 51 which horizontally rotates to travel between a closed state of gripping an immersion tube 21 and an opened state of not gripping the immersion tube 21; a locking device 8 which locks or unlocks the rotation of the gripping bracket 51 in the closed state by the advancement of a cylinder 81; and a pressure sensor mechanism provided with a plurality of transfer valves 71, 72, 73 and 74, which detects the opened/closed state of the gripping bracket 51 and the advance/retreat state of the cylinder 81. The pressure sensor mechanism comprises: the transfer valves 71, 72, 73 and 74 which close an air passage when the gripping bracket 51 or the locking device 8 has detected a pressing force by the cylinder 81; an air pump which supplies air to these valves; and a pressure gauge which outputs a contact signal when the air passage has been closed and the pressure has reached or exceeded a set value.
