A printing apparatus is provided to constitute a main control unit and an auxiliary control unit on a single PCB(Printed Circuit Board), thereby reducing the cost and improving the reliability in performing standby power control together with fixing control. A printing apparatus has a normal mode and a standby mode, which demands smaller power consumption than the normal mode. A fixing unit(110) fixes toner on a printing medium at a predetermined fixing temperature to form an image. A main control unit(130) manages the path of the printing medium. An auxiliary control unit(140) demands smaller power consumption than the main control unit, controls the fixing unit so that the fixing temperature reaches a predetermined target value, and controls the main control unit so that a mode of the main control unit is switched from the standby mode to the normal mode according to power information. The main control unit and the auxiliary control unit are formed on a single PCB.
