The method involves providing control parameter sets with different recuperation moments of an electric motor (5) for a conversion controlling device (7). The recuperation moment of the electric motor is positioned in a surge phase, and driving mode indicators are assigned to the control parameter sets. Actual driving mode indicators are defined, and the parameter sets corresponding to the defined actual drive mode indicators are used for controlling the conversion controlling device in the surge phase of a hybrid vehicle drive. An independent claim is also included for a device for controlling a hybrid vehicle drive with an internal combustion engine and an electric motor.
