A recording medium, a method and an apparatus for recording data on the recording medium are provided to manage defective cluster effectively by recording a single defective cluster in a spare area, considering the defective cluster as a plurality of defective clusters. A method for recording data on a recording medium includes the steps of: if a defective area is larger than a spare area, recording data to be recorded in the defective area, on a plurality of spare areas; and recording defect management information about the defective area in a management area. The defect management information includes position information on the defective area and position information on the spare area.
