PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data storage device which can adjust the distance between a magnetic head and data recording medium in real-time. SOLUTION: The data storage device comprises a data recording medium 110, a magnetic head 120 for reading a prescribed pattern from the recording medium and generating a corresponding read analog signal, a preamplifier 130 for amplifying the read analog signal outputted from the magnetic head and outputting the amplified read analog signal, an analog to digital converter 150 for converting the read analog signal outputted from the preamplifier to a digital signal, a discrete Fourier transformer for executing discrete Fourier transform of the digital signal outputted from the analog to digital converter and outputting the discrete Fourier transformed signal, a processor 160 for generating a first control signal based on the discrete Fourier transformed signal, and a control circuit 140 for outputting a second control signal to adjust the distance between the magnetic head and data recording medium according to the outputted first control signal.
