<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correctly determine the optimal laser power for an optical disk. <P>SOLUTION: When trial recording is requested (Step S3:Yes), the control microcomputer 83 assigns blocks B4-B15 to use for signal quality evaluation and the same laser power recording blocks B0-B3 not to use for signal quality evaluation (Step S5). It records on the same laser power recording blocks B0-B3 using the same laser power (Step S6) and records on the blocks B4-B15 for signal quality evaluation using various laser power (Step S7). Then, it obtain the relations between the bit errors and the laser power from the reproduced signal of the blocks B0-B15, by using the reproduced signal of the locks B4-B15 for signal quality evaluation, and determines the optimal laser power. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
