<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical communication device capable of suppressing heat to be generated when a light emitting element in a transmitting section is driven by a large current. <P>SOLUTION: A light emitting diode LED1 driven by a small driving current ILED1, and a light emitting diode LED2 driven by a large driving current ILED2 are provided in a package 1. Moreover, an internal driver 32 for supplying the driving current ILED1 is provided in the package 1, and on the other hand outside the package 1, an external driver 33 for supplying the large current ILED2 is connected through driver terminals D-in and TXO-out. Since the external driver 33 whose calorific value is large is provided outside the package 1, the quantity of heat to be generated in the package 1 can be reduced. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
