PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a character input method using a Japanese keyboard. SOLUTION: The character input method uses a Japanese keyboard representing a Japanese syllabary table in ten rows and five columns (a, i, u, e, o) on which the a, i, u columns over the rows are assigned to thirty basic keys with each row directed vertically and are input when the respective keys are pressed, and single keys are allocated for respective character keys for the fourth (e column) and fifth (o column) over the rows. When the fourth (e) character key is pressed after the third (u column) character key of each row is pressed, the fourth character of the row is input. When the fifth (o) character key is pressed after the third (u column) character key of each row is pressed, the fifth character of the row is input.
