PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a business form recognition apparatus for accurately recognizing item names which are recorded in a business form when recognizing business forms which are each different in format although being similar. SOLUTION: In the business form recognition apparatus for recognizing image information of an inputted business form, the business form recognition apparatus executes a business form recognition process for recognizing the business form, determines whether or not there is an item name which is not recognized by the business form recognition process, detects again a data frame corresponding to the item name which is not recognized when determined that there is the item name which is not recognized, and recognizes a character string of the detected data frame.
