<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform high precision calibration (gradation correction) in which gradation characteristics can be matched to target values even during copy or print operation. <P>SOLUTION: A scanner correction data creator 91 creates scanner correction data based on image data of a reference document image formed by offset-printing or the like, and stores them in a scanner correction data storage 92. A gradation correction data creator 93 creates gradation correction data for copy imaging based on the image data of a test image read out by a scanner 77, creates gradation correction data for print imaging based on the image data obtained by correcting the test image data by the scanner correction data, and stores them in a gradation correction data storage section 94.
