DRIVING SUPPORT DEVICE, AUTOMOBILE AND DRIVING SUPPORT METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To support driving by properly recognizing driving characteristics of a vehicle when accelerating/decelerating the vehicle.

SOLUTION: This driving support device is provided with: a vehicle speed detection part 2 for detecting the traveling status of its own vehicle; an intervehicle distance detecting part 1 for detecting the surroundings of its own vehicle; a throttle opening detection part 3 for detecting the accelerating/decelerating operation to its own vehicle; a follow-up traveling classification part 21 for obtaining driving characteristics by classifying a relationship between the traveling status of its own vehicle and the surroundings of its own vehicle when the accelerating/decelerating operation is detected by the throttle opening detection part 3 into a plurality of element characteristics; and an intervehicle distance automatic control part 8 for supporting driving of a driver based on at least any element characteristics in the driving characteristics obtained by the follow-up traveling classification part 21.
