PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a polycarbonate resin reduced in crystallized or scorched foreign matters induced by a conventional melting method. SOLUTION: In producing a polycarbonate resin through an ester exchange reaction of an aromatic dihydroxy compound and a carbonic acid diester using three vertical polymerization vessels and one horizontal polymerization vessel each equipped with a stirrer, a wall face temperature T of a distillation pipe 8c is set higher than a boiling point t1 of by-product phenol so that at least a relation among the boiling point t1 of by-product phenol under a pressure inside a third vertical polymerization vessel 6c, the wall face temperature T of the distillation pipe 8c, and an internal temperature t2 of the third vertical polymerization vessel 6c satisfies expression (1); t1<T≤t2.
