The protective shrouding (10) for young plants, especially vines (32) supported by stakes (34), is composed of a film material which is transparent and gives UV protection. The film has a thickness of 240-500 micrometers, folded into a rectangular shell with their overlapping ends secured by welding or an adhesive. The bottom has a saw tooth structure (28) for pushing into the ground (30).
