WHEEL BALANCING APPARATUS AND METHOD

A wheel balancing apparatus and a method thereof are provided to improve accuracy of wheel balance by eliminating all harmonic wave except for standard frequency components for processing a vibration signal. A motor driver(160) rotates a tire. A sensor unit(110) is installed at a driving axis, and measures the vibration caused by the unbalanced mass. A filter eliminates all harmonic wave components except for the standard frequency component. A control unit(135) calculates unbalanced mass by using the DFT(Discrete Fourier Transform) from the signal outputted from the filter, and calculates corrected mass by unbalanced mass correction algorithm from the unbalanced mass. A graphic user interface is provided to display the corrected mass.
