<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the weight of an image forming apparatus while ensuring the required strength of the frame structure of the apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: The main body 513 of the image forming apparatus includes: a front side frame 601 made of metal; a rear side frame 602 made of metal and disposed almost parallel to the front side frame 601; side frames 603 made of metal and connecting the front and rear side frames 601 and 602. The front and rear side frames 601 and 602 are connected by connection frames 604 as well. The side frames 603 and connection frames 604 are connected by an exhaust duct 621 formed from a synthetic resin into such a shape that vertical walls 623 and horizontal wall 622 are integrated. Air in the main body 513 passes through the exhaust passage 635 of the exhaust duct 621 and is exhausted by an exhaust fan 631.
