<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To adjust the position of reflection light to a sensor pattern on a photo detector smoothly by adding a simple configuration in an optical pickup device for dynamically switching an objective lens where a laser beam enters by a polarization conversion element and a polarization beam splitter. <P>SOLUTION: A semiconductor laser 11 is turned on, and an active polarization element 12 is driven so that laser beams enter a polarization beam splitter 13 by S polarization. Then, while monitoring the output of a sensor 251 for HDs, the position of an optical element is adjusted so that the reflection light from a disk is applied onto the sensor 251 for HDs appropriately. Then, the active polarization element 12 is driven so that the laser beam enter the polarization beam splitter 13 by P polarization, and the position of a polarizing diffraction grating 23 in the optical axis direction and rotational direction are adjusted so that reflection light from the disk is applied onto the sensor 252 for BDs appropriately while monitoring the output of the sensor 252 for BDs. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
