PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lens driving device capable of moving a lens accurately at a high speed, when moving the lens from the current position to a target position. SOLUTION: The lens driving device is equipped with a motor 203 for driving the lens 204; an encoder 206 for detecting the position of the lens, based on the driving amount of the motor 203 or directly; and a lens microcomputer 201 for acquiring the target position of the lens 204, and controlling the motor 203 based on the position of the lens 204 detected by a position detection part so that the lens 204 may reach the target position. When the amount of moving, from the current position to the target position of the lens 204 detected by the encoder 206, is smaller than the minimum controllable moving amount, the lens microcomputer 201 makes the lens 204 move temporarily by an amount larger than the minimum controllable moving amount, and then makes the lens 204 move and control to the target position.
