PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a timepiece for stabilizing and ensuring the generation of sound caused by hitting without being affected by a temperature change or the passage of time. SOLUTION: This timepiece is equipped with a sound source for producing sound by being hit with a hammer, an energy storage means storing mechanical energy, and a hitting control means for moving the hammer by being driven with the mechanical energy. The control means is equipped with: a release lever 60; an operation/drive member for turning the release lever 60 by pushing it; and a center wheel equipped with a release ratchet and a driving roller. The release lever 60 is equipped with a lever body 61 movably mounted on a bottom board, a first arm 61A engaging with the operation/drive member, and a second arm 61B engaging with the release ratchet of the center wheel.
