PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a half-reduced sintered ore by which in a raw material filling-up layer, the combustion efficiency of carbonaceous material can stably be high and the stably high reducing ratio and high metallic iron-containing ratio can be obtained. SOLUTION: As the sintering raw materials, iron ore, carbonaceous material and auxiliary raw material are used, and in the sintering raw material, a part of the iron ore, and a part of the carbonaceous material or in the sintering raw material, a part of the iron ore, a part of the carbonaceous material and a part of the auxiliary raw material are beforehand compressed and formed to make formed grains and the remained parts of the sintering raw material is made to pelletized grains, and from these raw materials, a raw material filled-up layer is formed and sintered and when semi-reduced sintered ore is produced to a part of the iron ore is reduced with the carbonaceous material, the apparent density of the above formed grains are made to be≥2.4 t/m<SP>3</SP>.
