PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve sewing quality by improving passableness of a needle thread passing between a shuttle body and a throat plate. SOLUTION: The horizontally rotating shuttle 1 is provided with: the shuttle body 60 for housing a bobbin for supplying a bobbin thread when sewing with the sewing machine; a rotating hook 70 which is rotary driving with respect to the shuttle body 60 and has the shuttle body 60 go through a needle thread loop with a needle point 71 provided on an outer periphery; and an opener 10 for cyclically drawing the shuttle body in a direction that separates an downstream side part in a rotating hook rotation direction of a shuttle body protrusion 61 and a throat plate protrusion 81 in synchronous with vertical movements of a sewing machine needle. Furthermore, by providing a permanent magnet 90 along the outer periphery of the rotating hook 70, friction between the shuttle body 60 and the rotating hook 70 is increased. Thus, after drawing the shuttle body 60 with the opener 10 and a tip of the opener 10 separates from the shuttle body 60, the rotating hook 70 and shuttle body 60 move to the downstream side in the rotation direction, and a sufficient gap for the needle thread to pass can be secured.
