[PROBLEMS] A polymer-supported rhodium(II) catalyst; and a reaction employing this catalyst which is the addition of an a-diazocarbonyl compound to a carbon-carbon multiple bond, insertion thereof into C-H and X-H (X = N, O, S, Se, Si, etc.) bonds, or rearrangement/addition cyclization thereof triggered by ylide formation. [MEANS FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS] An insoluble polymer produced by the copolymerization of a styrene derivative substituted by a carboxylic acid, styrene, and a linear alkane substituted by a vinylbenzyloxy group at each end and a rhodium(II) carboxylate complex are subjected to ligand exchange reaction to produce a novel insoluble-polymer-supported rhodium(II) complex. Namely, it is a polymer-supported metal complex catalyst which is obtained by depositing a metal on a crosslinked polymer and is represented by the following formula (chemical formula 1): [Chemical formula 1] wherein M¹ and M² each represents rhodium, etc.; X represents oxygen, etc.; R⁴ represents alkyl, etc.; the proportions of k, m, and l in k+l+m are 1-15%, 1-5%, and the rest, respectively; n is 4, etc.; R1 represents alkyl-2-(4'-alkyloxyphthalimidomethyl), etc.; R² represents phenyl, etc.; and R³ represents 4,4'-(1,3-propylene-1,3-dioxymethyl)phenyl, etc.
