The device comprises an illuminating unit (1) and a transceiver optics with a beam forming optics. The transceiver optics produces different illuminating patterns on the objects in different measuring distances. A signal processing unit is provided for generating a distance specification for the distance of the object from the illustration of illuminating patterns. The beam forming optics comprises multiple spatially separated multi-zone optics centered on the axis.
