Cutting inserts (26) are assembled around the periphery of a holder (22) of a tool (20) by respective fastening screws (28). Each insert (26) is seated against a support surface (32), and its respective fastening screw (28) passes through a center hole (29) in the insert (26) and is threaded into a mounting hole (30) formed in the support surface (32). The mounting hole (30) is oriented non-perpendicularly to the support surface (32), whereby the fastening screw (28) forms an angle ( alpha ) with the axis (L) of the insert's (26) through-hole (29) and is more accessible to a screwdriver. The through-hole (29) has a conical or spherical portion which supports a spherical head of the fastening screw.
