摘要 A reaction solution for sorting the caffeine contents in tea plants, and a method for selecting a tea plant and inspecting the caffeine content in a tea food by using the reaction solution are provided to select a tea plant with a low caffeine content by applying a simple and quick color-reaction method. A reaction solution for sorting the caffeine contents in tea plants comprises potassium iodide and iodine, and the pH of the reaction solution indicates neutrality. The reaction solution is obtained by mixing potassium iodide and iodine in a ratio of 1:1~2, and then dissolving the mixture in ethanol at a level of 0.5~2.0g/100ml ethanol. A method for sorting the caffeine contents in tea plants comprises the steps of: mixing extracts from species of tea plants to the reaction solution; dropping the mixed solution on a thin-layer chromatography plate or filter paper and confirming color reaction; and selecting the tea plant of an extract with the lightest color. The caffeine content in a tea food is also inspected by using the reaction solution.
