A method, a device and a system for controlling home appliances using Zigbee and RFID(Radio Frequency Identification) are provided to remotely control a home appliance having an added function although a remote control signal corresponding to the added function has not been previously stored in a home gateway, and notify a user of locations of each home appliance. Home appliances(221,223,225,227,229) include RFID tags(231,233,235,237,239) that store remote control signal data corresponding to each function of the home appliances(221,223,225,227,229) and RFID data including ID data of the home appliances(221,223,225,227,229), and Zigbee receivers(241,243,245,247,249) that store the ID data and product type data of the home appliances(221,223,225,227,229). The first and second RFID readers(211,213) read the RFID data and the product type data of the home appliances(221,223,225,227,229) located within a Zigbee recognition range and register them, and if a product information request signal is received, the first and second RFID readers(211,213) transmit the read RFID data together with previously stored location data of the readers(211,213). A home gateway(201) receives and registers the ID data and the product type data, transmits the product information request signal to the RFID readers(211,213), stores data received as a response to the request signal by associating the data with the registered ID data, and remotely controls the home appliances(221,223,225,227,229) according to a user request.
