A rack forming method of a rack bar is provided to be able to increase the precision of a tooth form, extend life of the rack gear, and minimize deformation of the rack bar by gradually forming the rack gear when forming a rack gear on the rack bar. In a rack forming method of a rack bar, in which a rack gear is formed on an outer peripheral surface of a hollow rack bar, the rack forming method of the rack bar comprises: a supporting member inserting step(S10) of inserting a supporting member into a hollow space of the rack bar correspondingly to the rack gear formed on the outer peripheral surface of the hollow rack bar; a rack bar moving step(S20) of relatively moving a forming unit having a forming rib formed on a bottom part thereof correspondingly to the rack gear and the hollow rack bar having the supporting member inserted thereinto to each other such that the forming rib of the forming unit comes close to one end portion of the outer peripheral surface of the rack bar; and a rack gear forming step(S30) of gradually forming the rack gear on the outer peripheral surface of the rack bar by vertically reciprocating the forming unit while the forming unit and the rack bar are relatively moved to each other, thereby sequentially contact-pressing from one end portion to the other end portion of the outer peripheral surface of the rack bar using an end part of the forming rib.
