CONTENT SERVER AND ENCODING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve such a problem that when a content transfer destination is an in-vehicle player mounted to a vehicle parked in a parking lot, it is difficult to accurately obtain a time required for transferring contents since communication speed between a content server and the in-vehicle player is varied by the parking position or the direction of the vehicle.

SOLUTION: A content server is provided with: an encoding means for encoding contents into contents for mobile players; a communication means for transferring the contents for the mobile players encoded by the encode means to a mobile player through communication; a transfer time setting means for setting a time for the transfer of the contents for the mobile players performed by the communication means; and a communication speed determination means for determining the speed of communication with the mobile player performed by the communication means. The encoding means encodes the contents into a size determined based on the transfer time set by the transfer time setting means and the communication speed determined by the communication speed determination means.
