<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that monitors whether a unit recognizing a ground tint functions normally, and stops copy output of image data and transfer to another device if abnormality of the function of the ground tint recognition unit is detected. <P>SOLUTION: An image read unit 124 generates test image data having a predetermined ground tint and inputs it to the ground tint recognition unit 135. The ground tint recognition unit 135 recognizes whether image data per unit area in a test pattern includes the ground tint. Then the image read unit 124 verifies whether the ground tint recognition unit 135 functions normally, based upon the recognition result, and when abnormality is detected, a CPU 105 makes control to stop the copy output of the image data etc. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
