PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a background scene object generating device and a background scene object generating method for generating a background scene object forming a natural background with no sense of incongruity from one image without preparing a special image.

SOLUTION: An original background scene object storage section 310 stores an original background scene object having a face formed of a plurality of polygons including a face defined as a back face. A back face region determining section 321 determines at least a partial region of an input image 700 as a back face region, and a back face image generating section 331 generates a back face image based on an image, corresponding to the back face region, out of the input image 700. A back face image mapping section 341 arranges the back face image and an image obtained by reversing the back face image in a specific direction, adjacently in the specific direction and maps them to the original background scene object.
