PLASMA DISPLAY PANEL AND ITS MANUFACTURING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plasma display panel and its manufacturing method, solving both problems of "discharge delay" and "temperature dependency of discharge delay" while realizing good drive at low voltage by reforming a protective layer, and capable of realizing excellent display properties by suppressing "dependency of discharge delay upon space charge". SOLUTION: An alkoxide of magnesium (Mg(OR)2) or acetylacetone of magnesium, having a purity of not less than 99.95% is provided. A small amount of acid is added to this aqueous solution for hydrolysis to prepare a gel of magnesium hydroxide as an MgO precursor. The gel is fired in the air at a temperature of 700°C or above to produce powder containing MgO fine particles 16a, 16b having an NaCl crystal structure surrounded by a (100) face and a (111) face.
