PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new and improved diaphragm device having enhanced resistance to vibration and impact. SOLUTION: The diaphragm device includes: a diaphragm mechanism 30 having diaphragm blades 34 and 36 and a diaphragm frame 32 in which the diaphragm blades 34 and 36 are housed; and a diaphragm mechanism cover 50 fixed in the fixed barrel 12 of a lens device 10 to which the diaphragm mechanism 30 is attached, and holding the diaphragm mechanism 30 between the diaphragm mechanism cover 50 and the receiving surface 12d of the fixed barrel 12. The diaphragm mechanism 30 and the diaphragm mechanism cover 50 are inserted inside from the side surface of the fixed barrel 12, and at least the parts of the diaphragm mechanism 30 and the diaphragm mechanism cover 50 project more outside than the side surface of the fixed barrel 12. The diaphragm mechanism cover 50 includes at its part projecting more outside than the side surface of the fixed barrel 12, a holding part 50e holding the diaphragm mechanism 30 in a direction where the diaphragm mechanism 30 is separated from the fixed barrel 12.
