PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a brush-holding portion that prevents brushes from coming off a brush holder and that facilitates spring-hooking work. SOLUTION: This brush-holding portion is provided with a brush holder 7, that guides a brush 6 toward the outside circumferential surface 3a of a commutator 3; the brush 6 inserted into the brush holder 7; a spring-hooking shaft 8, provided near the brush holder 7 with its axial line that intersects perpendicularly in the brush-guiding direction of the brush holder 7; a fixing-spring-end locking hole 10, provided at the base side of the spring-hooking shaft 8; a slit 11 provided at the side 7a of the brush holder 7 at the spring-hooking shaft 8 side from the top end side toward the bottom end of the brush 6 along the brush-guiding direction; a spring end locking projection 12 provided on the brush holder 7, in such a way as to close the top end opening of the slit 11; and a twisted spring 9, whose base side fixing-spring-end 9a is locked to the fixing-spring-end locking hole 10 whose coil 9c is passed over the spring-hooking shaft 8, and a brush-pushing spring end 9b, at the other free end side, is press-connected to the top end of the brush 6 through the slit 11 of the brush holder 7.
