PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an outdoor unit for an air conditioner capable of preventing contact of an intruding object from an opening of a closing valve cover to an electric wire extended from a conduit attachment plate. SOLUTION: The outdoor unit 1 for the air conditioner is provided with a body casing 2, at least one closing valve 11, 12, the closing valve cover 3, the conduit attachment plate 4, and a shield part 5. The at least one closing valve 11, 12 is attached to an outer surface of the body casing 2, and it is connected to a coolant piping. The closing valve cover 3 has an opening 3a for passing the coolant piping. The closing valve cover 3 covers the closing valve 11, 12. The conduit attachment plate 4 is attached to a position of the outer surface of the body casing 2 in an internal space 3b of the closing valve cover 3. The shield part 5 is arranged around the conduit attachment plate 4. The shield part 5 prevents contact of the intruding object intruding from the opening 3a into a closing valve cover 3 interior to the electric wire led out from a conduit attached to the conduit attachment plate 4.
