The compensation unit e.g. hydraulic tappet (1), has a valve closure body (7) that is formed as an acicular elongated sealing piston, and a plate-shaped sealing surface provided at a valve seat proximal end of the closure body. The sealing surface cooperates with a correspondingly formed sealing surface (25) of a valve seat (24). A contact surface is provided at a valve seat distal end of the closure body for hydraulic admission flow. The valve closure body fills an available space of a closure body cap (9).
