摘要 THE PRESENT UTILITY INNOVATION RELATES TO APPARATUS FOR DETERMINING CHLOROPHYLL CONTENT. A DIODE LASER BEAM IS USED AS THE EXCITATION SOURCE FOR INDUCING FLUORESCENCE OF CHLOROPHYLLS IN ANY SAMPLE. EMISSION FLUORESCENCE INDUCED BY THE DIODE LASER LIGHT IS DETECTED BY A PHOTODIODE AT A GREATER WAVELENGHT THAN THAT OF THE LASER. A BAND-PASS FILTER IS USED TO SHIELD THE PHOTODIODE FROM EXTRANEOUS LIGHT AND TO ALLOW THE LIGHT AT DIAGNOSTIC FREQUENCIES THROUGH TO THE PHOTODIODE. THE FLUORESCENCE INTENSITY OF THE SAMPLE IS MEASURED BY THE PHOTODIODE, THE SIGNAL FROM WHICH IS DIRECTLY RELATED THE CHLOROPHYLL CONTENT IN THE SAMPLE BY MEANS OF CALIBRATION CURVES PREVIOUSLY OBTAINED BY OPERATING THE APPARATUS USING CALIBRATION SAMPLE OF KNOWN CHLOROPHYLL CONTENT. THE CHLOROPHYLL CONTENT IN THE SAMPLE IS THEREBY DETERMINED USING THE APPARATUS.
