<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of being appropriately controlled by referring to brand IDs. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is constituted of a process cartridge, including at least a photoreceptor unit and a toner developing unit, an engine unit to which the process cartridge is attached and which forms an image, and a control unit for controlling the operation of the apparatus. The process cartridge, the engine unit and the control unit are equipped with a brand ID storage means in which the brand ID is stored, respectively.
