PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pneumatic tire enabling reduction of weight and improvement of durability and driveability, and provide its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: In this tire, a carcass 11 has a carcass body part 17 extended between bead cores 14 and a pair of turnup parts 18 wound back around the bead cores 14 from both end parts of the carcass body part 17 to be extended outward in the tire radial direction and having distal end parts 19 located between a belt layer 10 and the carcass body part 17. The tire has a recessed part 20 extended in the tire peripheral direction corresponding to at least one of the distal end parts 19 of the turnup parts 18 on a tread surface 5.
