The present invention includes methods of inhibiting or suppressing cellu lar secretory processes. More specifically the present invention relates to inhibiting or reducing the release of inflammatory mediators from inflammato ry cells by inhibiting the mechanism associated with the release of inflamma tory mediators from granules in inflammatory cells. In this regard, the pres ent invention discloses an intracellular signaling mechanism that illustrate s several novel intracellular targets for pharmacological intervention in di sorders involving secretion of inflammatory mediators from vesicles in infla mmatory cells. Peptide fragments and variants thereof of MANS peptide as dis closed in the present invention are useful in such methods.
