<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the temperature rise of a semiconductor laser by reducing heat resistance in a holder in a laser holder device for adjusting the emitting direction of the semiconductor laser. <P>SOLUTION: Planar tilt sliding contact surface 8 and base sliding contact surfaces 12 are provided to a tilt holder 2 for holding a semiconductor laser 1 and a base holder 9 for holding the tilt holder 2 to bring the both into surface-contact with each other. Thus, heat resistance between the tilt holder 2 and the base holder 9 is reduced. Consequently, heat generated from the semiconductor laser 1 is easily transferred to an optical pickup casing 16 via a holder reference surface 12, and a temperature difference between the semiconductor laser 1 and the optical pickup casing 16 is reduced.
