PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a voltage regulator capable of preventing reverse current in a reverse connection state of power supply or occurrence of the reverse current when magnitude correlation between input voltage and output voltage is reversed, and reducing a product in size without deteriorating resistance characteristics between an input terminal and an output terminal in which main current flows by an simplified circuit. SOLUTION: According to the magnitude correlation between input voltage VDD and output voltage VOUT, a substrate gate of an output transistor M1 is switched and connected to an input terminal IN or an output terminal OUT, and gate voltage of the output transistor M1 is also switched, furthermore, the supply voltage of the circuit for controlling operation of the output transistor M1 is made to be supplied from the input terminal IN via diode D1 or from the output terminal OUT via diode D2.
