PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixed type constant velocity universal joint for reliably imparting proper preload without interrupting the function of a thrust member by improving the construction of a preload means consisting of a thrust part and a receiving part while achieving improved assembling efficiency. SOLUTION: The fixed type constant velocity universal joint comprises the thrust part 52 provided on the side of an inner ring 20 for operating elastic thrust in the axial direction, and the receiving part 58 provided on the side of a cage 40 for receiving the thrust from the thrust part 52. Herein, a plunger jacket 50 is provided which has a case 55, the trust member 53 arranged at a front end opening portion of the case 55, and an elastic member 54 stored in the case 55 for imparting elastic thrust to the thrust member 53. The plunger unit 50 is pressed only near its base end into a recessed portion 2a of an inward member, and a slit 67 is provided in a press-in fitting portion 70 of the case 55 for reducing press-in force.
