PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of constructing a foundation which can obtain sufficient hearing force even if a horizontal load such as an earthquake is applied thereto. SOLUTION: According to the method of constructing the foundation, a groove 10 having a predetermined width is excavated in a first direction, and holes 13a, 13b are excavated in diagonally downward directions at edges of the groove 10 in a second direction intersecting the first direction so as to expanded the groove in the second direction. Then piles 21a, 21b extending in the diagonally downward directions are arranged in the groove 10 and the holes 13a, 13b, respectively, and grout is injected into the piles, and placing concrete 35a, 35b are placed into the groove 10 and the holes 13a, 13b, respectively.
