PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a conveying power of a belt conveyor in which a vacuum suction timing belt is used and reduce the wear of the timing belt. SOLUTION: In this timing belt having suction holes 84, a surface for placing an article to be conveyed thereon is set slightly lower than top plates 81, 87 of guides on both sides, and supported by a support plate (unshown) from the underside. The timing belt has through holes laterally extending through the timing belt just below all suction holes 84. A suction pipe a1 joined to the left and right guides sucks the air in the through holes through the suction holes 23 formed in the left and right top plates 81, 87 to suck the article to be conveyed. Since the timing belt is brought into contact (sucked) with the article to be conveyed by floating from the support plate, it does not cause abrasion with the support plate. Consequently, the conveying power can be saved, and a wear suppressing effect can be provided. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
