PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device capable of removing a yarn wrapped around a roller safely without stopping a machine and interfering with a yarn running adjacent to that yarn and advantageous in productivity. SOLUTION: In this method of removing a wound yarn by pressing a yarn rubbing member against the yarn wrapped around the roller for guiding yarns running parallel with each other while the roller is rotating, the spread of the yarn wrapped around the roller in the axial direction of the yarn is suppressed while pressing the yarn rubbing member against the yarn wrapped around the roller.
