PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a passenger conveyor footstep measuring device capable of highly accurately performing various measurement related to footsteps and a braking distance measuring method using the passenger conveyor footstep measuring device. SOLUTION: The passenger conveyor footstep measuring device has a color identification sensor 21 provided on a comb beam 15 of an entrance and detecting a demarcation line 13 of a footstep 6 and an escalator control part 12 for operating an electromagnetic brake 11 stopping the movement of the footstep 6 when the color identification sensor 21 detects the demarcation line 13. By measuring a moving distance from the position where the color identification sensor 21 detects the demarcation line 13 until the footstep 6 is stopped, a braking distance is measured.
