The method involves transmitting data (BZS) from a parking ticket vending machine (20) to a service center (30), where the data relates to an operating condition of the machine and indicates a service requirement if necessary. The data is provided over its geographic position in the vending machine. Position data (POS) of the machine is selected from the transmitted data (BZS). A route is computed for a service vehicle (60), along which the selected vending machine is started depending on the selected position data.
