An antitheft device (1) constructed from a transparent resin display case (10) and an antitheft tag (20). The antitheft tag (20) is stick shaped so that it can be received together with a merchandise piece (P) in the same space in the display case (10). A sensor with a rod is provided inside a tag body. The rod is retractably projected outward of the tag body. The tag body is made to engage an inner surface of the display case (10) with the rod retracted, and the antitheft tag (20) and the merchandise piece (P) are received in the display case (10). When the display case (10) is opened and the merchandise piece (P) is taken out, the antitheft tag (20) separates from the display case (10) to allow the rod to project, which causes a buzzer of the antitheft tag (20) to sound.
