FOOD AND DRINK HAVING AMELIORATING AND PROPHYLACTIC ACTION ON GASTROINTESTINAL INJURY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a food and drink available from an inexpensive material, administrable over a long period and effectively exhibiting ameliorating and/or prophylactic actions on gastrointestinal injury without adverse effects.

SOLUTION: The food and drink comprises a composition obtained from an asparagus, preferably an extract from a young stem of the asparagus and one or two or more substances selected from the group consisting of methylmethionine and/or a derivative thereof, niacin and/or a derivative thereof, vitamin B2, an aloe, mucin and a lactic acid bacterium and has the ameliorating and/or prophylactic actions. The composition obtained from the asparagus contains 1-40 mass% of γ-aminobutyric acid.
