<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coupler fixable to a wall surface, by easily connecting mutual handrail members constituting a deformed handrail, with a relatively simple structure. <P>SOLUTION: This coupler 10 has a cross-sectional circular elbow part 14 for connecting and fixing two handrail members 11 having a cross section 11a of a deformed shape in a projecting corner part 12 of a building and having a bracket 13 for fixing the coupler 10 to the wall surface 12a, and two conversion adapters 15x and 15y for respectively connecting an end part 11b of the handrail members 11 to an end part 14a of the elbow part 14. A recessed locking part fittable with the end part 11b of the handrail member 11, is arranged in one end part of the conversion adapters 15x and 15y.
